TURMERIC is a spice which is frequently used in Asian food. It is the main spice in curry giving it it’s popular yellow color. Turmeric has become a very popular plant with health and fitness enthusiasts all over the world. If you have been trying to adopt a healthy lifestyle, chances are that you have come across the benefits of turmeric and also different recipes on how to consume it. Tumeric comes from a plant named tumeric. It gives the spice curry its color. Mainly used in Asian cuisine. Tumeric is a good source of iron, magnesium, vitamin B6, potassium and also magnanese.
CURCUMIN is the main active ingredient in the turmeric plant. Curcumin acts as a very powerful anti-oxidant in the body. There are so many studies that suggest that it might ease symptoms of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, like pain and inflammation. Also, tumeric has been used to treat things like menstrual problems, digestive issues, improving liver function, toothaches, etc. Curcumin is poorly absorbed by the body.
HOW TO PROPERLY CONSUME TUMERIC
Always combine it it black pepper to make sure the body properly absorbs it. Another way to improve the bioavailability of tumeric is to boil it for several minutes. For example when making tumeric tea, boil the tumeric together with the water. Always try to use organic tumeric to get the full benefits. It is also advisable to take tumeric as a whole than just the curcumin as a supplement. This is because tumeric has other health benefits aside from what it’s main active ingredient CURCUMIN offers.
PLEASE DO EXERCISE EXTRA CAUTION WHEN USING TUMERIC/CURCUMIN
If you have gallstones, kidney stones or bile duct dysfunction consume tumeric with caution. This is because curcumin stimulates the pumping action of the gall bladder. Imagine if you already have gall stones or a blocked bile duct? Taking tumeric frequently will initiate or worsen pain on your right side, probably indicating that your gall bladder is being overworked.
Pregnant women shouldn’t use it without their doctors’ approval. If you are not at risk for gallstones, then the pumping action helps to clean out the gallbladder and prevents future complications like gall bladder cancer.
