As a teenager, i was never bothered about my weight. I mostly ate whatever I wanted to eat. Never really thought about exercising. I am sure most of us can relate to that.
On the other hand, many adults have struggled with their weight over the years. Many adults find that while they are faithfully exercising daily, eating the right things, those last ten pounds are so hard to get rid of. Sometimes people blame their genes for such a poor response to their weight loss efforts. Sometimes they blame it on hormones.
There are so many reasons why you might not be loosing weight. Let us look at about three of the reasons. Although these are only just some possible reasons, they are most likely why you are not shedding the pounds/kgs.
#1 NOT ENOUGH REST
There is a tendency for people who want to loose weight to do TOO MUCH of everything. One thing they tend to do is to exercise too much. Some people feel that the more you exercise, the more weight you loose. You need to exercise to loose the weight, but you also need to rest. You must be very disciplined with your rest days and your bed time. Two to three days out of the week should be your rest from exercises. You should also make sure that you are going to bed on time and also getting at least 6-7 hours of sleep in general. Going to bed on time means that you should be in bed by at least 10:30 pm. The hours of 11 pm and 2 am are very critical for so many cellular processes. A lot of rebuilding of body tissues and necessary hormone secretions occur during this time period. If your body does not properly repair itself from the wear and tear of the day, then your body tends to stay in a wear and tear state. How do you expect to loose weight in such in condition?
#2 EATING TOO MUCH
Whenever i ask people about their food, they always say “oh i eat healthy”. Really? When asked what they eat, when they eat it and how much of it they do, you start to see where the problem is. A lot of times people are eating what they think is healthy food like “fat free yogurt” or calorie dense protein bars. They add nuts like almonds to their which have way more calories than a lot of people truly understand. In addition, fat free means “sugar more”. On top of this they eat this snack sometimes very close to bedtime. These habits combine to create a great recipe for weight loss or weight gain disaster.
The best solution? Write down what you are eating and estimate your calories. You can easily find out from the Internet the calorie content of any particular food.
#3 LACK OF PROPER DIGESTION
Normally, huge particles of food are not supposed to pass from your small intestines into your bloodstream. The barrier between the blood and intestines is only supposed to allow very vital substances back and forth. Any thing that cause disease from the food you eat, is not suppose to pass into the blood. But sometimes, the food you eat, especially processed foods, have harmful compounds in them. These toxic compounds cause this barrier to be inflamed an cause these passage ways to widen. This means that more harmful substances can get into the blood stream, into other vital organs and slow their function. So because a vital organ like the liver is full of these unwanted toxins, it is no longer able to properly break down the healthy food that you are eating for proper digestion and growth. So you can eat all the healthy food you want, but if it is not properly digested, it cannot do what you would want it do. Which is, to help you maintain or loose weight.
The best and cheapest solution for this is to make sure you are properly chewing your food. Take your time when you eat and try not to rush through your meals. CHEW SLOWLY!
